Knock Sensor: Inspection
- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE
- REMOVE NO. 2 TIMING BELT COVER (See TIMING BELT (5VZ-FE) )
- REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR (See CYLINDER HEAD (5VZ-FE) )
- REMOVE FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY (See CYLINDER HEAD (5VZ-FE) )
- REMOVE WATER BYPASS PIPE AND KNOCK SENSOR WIRE (See CYLINDER BLOCK (5VZ-FE) )
- REMOVE KNOCK SENSORS
Using SST, remove the knock sensor.
SST 09817-16011
- INSPECT KNOCK SENSORS
Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between the terminal and body.
If there is continuity, replace the sensor.
- INSTALL KNOCK SENSORS
Using SST, install the knock sensor.
SST 09817-16011
Torque: 39 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 29 ft.lbf)
- REINSTALL WATER BYPASS PIPE AND KNOCK SENSOR WIRE (See WATER PUMP (5VZ-FE) )
- REINSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY (See CYLINDER HEAD (5VZ-FE) )
- REINSTALL FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR (See REPLACEMENT )
- REINSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR (See CYLINDER HEAD (5VZ-FE) )
- REINSTALL NO. 2 TIMING BELT COVER (See TIMING BELT (5VZ-FE) )
- REINSTALL AIR CLEANER HOSE
- REFILL WITH ENGINE COOLANT
