Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING HAND-HELD TESTER (VSV FOR AICV) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch on (IG) and turn the hand-held tester ON.
    2. Select the following menu items: DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / INTAKE CTL VSV1 and operate the VSV for AICV.
    3. Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by the hand-held tester.

      Standard: 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Operation Specified Condition
      VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F
      VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter

    1. OK: Go to step   4 . 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 
  2. CHECK VSV(FOR AICV) (SEE  INSPECTION  ) 
    1. NG: REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSY NO. 3 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM, VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY) 
    1. Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
      1. Disconnect the A13 VSV for AICV connector.
      2. Disconnect the B45 ECM connector.
      3. Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.

        Standard (Check for open): 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        VSV for AICV (A13-2) - AICV (B45-27) Below 1 Ω

        Standard (Check for short): 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        VSV for AICV (A13-2) or AICV (B45-27) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    2. Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV and the EFI relay.
      1. Remove the engine room junction block.
      2. Measure the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.

        Standard (Check for open): 

        TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        VSV for AICV (A13-1) - engine room junction block (EFI relay) (1D-5) Below 1 Ω
      3. Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
      4. Reinstall the engine room junction block.

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. INSPECT VACUUM TANK (SEE  INSPECTION  ) 
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE AIR CLEANER CAP 
    2. OK: REPLACE ECM (SEE  REPLACEMENT  )
