OBD II Scan Tool (Excluding Hand-Held Tester):

  1. Check operation of  FUEL PUMP  ). 
    1. OK: Go to step   7 . 
    2. NG: Go to next step. 
  2. Check operation of  FUEL PUMP RELAY  . 
    1. NG: Replace fuel pump relay. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. Check  FUEL PUMP  . 
    1. NG: Repair or replace fuel pump. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  4. Check  CIRCUIT OPENING RELAY  . 
    1. NG: Replace circuit opening relay. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  5. Check for open in harness and connector between EFI or ECD relay and fuel pump, and fuel pump and body ground (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC TABLE AND INSPECTION  ). 
    1. NG: Repair or replace harness or connector. 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  6. Check voltage between terminal FC of ECM connector and body ground. 

    PREPARATION: 

    Turn the ignition switch ON.

    CHECK: 

    Measure the voltage between terminal FC of the ECM connector and body ground.

    OK: 

    Voltage: 9 to 14 V

    1. NG: Check for open in harness and connector between battery and FC terminal of ECM (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC TABLE AND INSPECTION  ). 
    2. OK: Proceed to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE   . 
  7. Check fuel pump resistor (See  INSPECTION  ). 
    1. NG: Replace fuel pump resistor. 
    2. OK: Check for open in harness and connector between circuit opening relay and fuel pump resistor, fuel pump resistor and fuel pump (See  HOW TO USE THE DIAGNOSTIC TABLE AND INSPECTION  ).
