Inspection Procedure
- CHECK MIL
- Check that Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) lights up when turning the ignition switch ON.
OK: MIL lights up
OK: SYSTEM OK
NG: GO TO NEXT STEP
- Check that Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) lights up when turning the ignition switch ON.
- CHECK CONNECTION BETWEEN INTELLIGENT TESTER AND ECM
- Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and tester ON.
- Check the communication between the tester and ECM.

A: GO TO MIL CIRCUIT
B: GO TO NEXT STEP
- CHECK MIL (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR)
- Disconnect the T2 throttle body connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check the MIL.

MIL (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR)Result Proceed To MIL illuminates A MIL does not illuminate B - Reconnect the throttle body connector.
A: REPLACE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY
B: GO TO NEXT STEP
- CHECK MIL (ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR)
- Disconnect the A15 accelerator pedal position sensor connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check the MIL.

A: REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR

- CHECK MIL (VAPOR PRESSURE SENSOR)
- Disconnect the V9 vapor pressure sensor connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Check the MIL.

A: REPLACE VAPOR PRESSURE SENSOR
B: GO TO NEXT STEP
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- Disconnect the T2 throttle body connector.
- Disconnect the A15 accelerator pedal position sensor connector.
- Disconnect the V9 vapor pressure sensor connector.
- Disconnect the E4 and E8 ECM connectors.
- Check the resistance.
Standard resistance (check for short)
HARNESS AND CONNECTORTester Connections Specified Conditions VC (E8-18) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher VCPA (E4-26) - Body ground VCP2 (E4-27) - Body ground - Reconnect the throttle body connector.
- Reconnect the accelerator pedal position sensor connector.
- Reconnect the vapor pressure sensor connector.
- Reconnect the ECM connectors.
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: REPLACE ECM
