    CAUTION:
    • This test involves high-pressure fuel and electricity.
    • Take every precaution regarding safe handling of both the fuel and the electrical parts.
    • Perform this test in a safe area, and avoid any sparks or flame.
    • Do not smoke.
    1. Disconnect the fuel inlet hose (fuel tube connector) from the fuel filter.

      CAUTION:
      • Perform disconnecting operations of the fuel tube connector (quick type B) after reading the precautions (see PRECAUTION  ).
      • Prevent the pressure remaining in the fuel line from causing fuel to splash inside the engine compartment.
    2. Use a new fuel main hose and take out the fuel tube connector from its hose.

    3. Connect SST (hose) and fuel tube connector to the fuel filter outlet.

      SST 09268-41047

CAUTION: Perform connecting operations of the fuel tube connector (quick type B) after reading the precautions (see PRECAUTION  ).

      HINT:

      Use the vehicle's fuel filter.

    4. Remove the pressure regulator from the delivery pipe (see REMOVAL  ).
    5. Install the O-ring to the fuel inlet of the pressure regulator.
    6. Connect SST (hose) to the fuel inlet of the pressure regulator with SST (union) and the 2 bolts.

      SST 09268-41047 (09268-41091)

      Torque: 7.5 N*m (77 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf)

    9. Connect SST (adaptor and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with SST (clamp).

      SST 09268-41047 (09268-41110, 09268-41300)

    10. Put the injector into the graduated cylinder.
CAUTION: Install a suitable vinyl tube onto the injector to contain the gasoline spray.
    11. Operate the fuel pump.
      1. Connect the intelligent tester to the Controller Area Network Vehicle Interface Module (CAN VIM). Then connect the CAN VIM to the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3).

      2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
NOTE: Do not start the engine.
      3. Push the intelligent tester main switch ON.
      4. Select Active Test and enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / FUEL PUMP / SPD.
    12. Connect SST (wire) to the injector and the battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with a graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

      SST 09842-30070

      • Injection volume: 56 to 59 cm 3  (3.4 to 4.2 cu. in.) in 15 seconds
      • Difference between each injector: 15 cm 3  (0.9 cu. in.) or less

If the result is not as specified, replace the injector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    3. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
    4. Remove SST and fuel tube connector.

      SST 09842-30070, 09268-41047

    5. Disconnect the intelligent tester from the DLC3.
    6. Reconnect the fuel inlet pipe (fuel tube connector) to the fuel filter.
CAUTION: Perform connecting operations of the fuel tube connector (quick type B) after reading the precautions (see PRECAUTION  ).
