Windshield Glass: Removal

HINT:

A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.

  1. REMOVE FR WIPER ARM RH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  2. REMOVE FR WIPER ARM LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  3. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  4. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER LH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  5. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  6. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP RH 
  7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP LH 
  8. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 
  9. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 
  10. REMOVE INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  11. REMOVE RH VISOR ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  12. REMOVE LH VISOR ASSEMBLY 
  13. REMOVE MAP LAMP ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  14. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  15. REMOVE VISOR HOLDER (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  16. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  17. REMOVE WINDSHIELD MOLDING OUTSIDE 
    1. Using a knife, cut off the molding as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: Do not damage the vehicle body with the knife.
    2. Remove the remaining molding.

      HINT:

      Make a partial cut in the molding.

  18. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS 
    1. From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass.

      HINT:

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to keep the surface from being scratched.

    2. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
      NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and interior/exterior ornaments.
    3. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the glass.
    4. Using a suction cup, remove the glass.
      NOTE: Leave as much adhesive on the body as possible when removing the glass.

  19. CLEAN WINDSHIELD GLASS 
    1. Using a scraper, remove the damaged stoppers, dam and adhesive sticking to the glass.
    2. Clean the outer edge of the glass with white gasoline.
      NOTE: Do not touch the glass after cleaning it.
