Rear Axle Beam: Removal

  1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL 
  2. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH (for Disc Type) (See  REMOVAL  ) 
  3. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH (for Disc Type) 
  4. REMOVE REAR DISC (for Disc Type) 

    HINT:

    Use the same manner described above to the other side.

  5. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Drum Type) 

    HINT:

    Use the same manner described above to the other side.

  6. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (w/ ABS) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control sensor connector.
    2. Remove the bolt and clip, disconnect the skid control sensor wire.
    3. Use the same manner described above to the other side.
  7. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 3 
    1. Remove the bolt, disconnect parking brake cable No. 3.

  8. DISCONNECT PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO. 2 
    1. Remove the bolt, disconnect parking brake cable No. 2.
  9. REMOVE STABILIZER BAR REAR (See  REMOVAL   ) 
  10. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE TUBE NO. 4 (for Drum Type) 
    1. Using SST, disconnect the rear brake tube No. 4 from the flexible hose. Use a container to catch brake fluid as it drains out.

      SST 09023-00101 

    2. Remove the clip and disconnect the flexible hose.

  11. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE TUBE NO. 3 (for Drum Type) 

    SST 09023-00101 

    HINT:

    Disconnect the RH side by the same procedures as the LH side.

  12. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and rear axle hub from the rear axle beam assembly.
  13. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Remove the RH side by the same procedures as the LH side.

  14. SEPARATE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING 
    1. Remove the nut and rear shock absorber LH cushion retainer, separate the rear shock absorber with coil spring from the rear axle beam assembly.
    2. Use the same manner described above to the other side.

  15. REMOVE REAR AXLE BEAM ASSEMBLY 
    1. Support the rear axle beam assembly with jack.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and rear axle beam assembly.
