Fuel Pump: Inspection

INSPECT FUEL PUMP

Check the resistance.

Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

Standard resistance

RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

Tester Connection	Specified Condition
1 - 2	0.2 to 3.0 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump.

Check the operation
1. Apply battery voltage to both terminals. Check that the pump operates.
  NOTE:
  - These tests must be done quickly (for less than 10 seconds) to prevent the coil from burning out.
  - Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
  - Always do the switching at the battery side.
  If the motor does not operate, replace the fuel pump.
