Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Removal

CAUTION: The hybrid system uses high voltage circuits, so improper handling could cause an electric shock or leakage. During servicing (e.g. installing or removing the parts, replacing the parts), be sure to follow the procedures below.
  1. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER (See  REMOVAL   ) 
  2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 
  3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER RH 
  4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )  
  5. DRAIN HV COOLANT (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )  
  6. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  7. REMOVE INVERTER WITH CONVERTER 
    1. Remove the inverter with converter (See REMOVAL ) .
  8. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the sensor connector.
    2. Using a 19 mm deep socket wrench, remove the sensor and gasket.
