Engine Control System - System & Component Testing, On-Vehicle Inspection, Removal & Installation: ECM: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  2. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR HOLDER BLOCK 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and move the connector holder block so that the ECM can be removed in the next step.

  3. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the 2 levers.
      NOTE: Make sure that the lock levers are raised 90° as shown in the illustration before disconnecting the connectors. Failure to do this may cause the connectors to break.
    2. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts and ECM.

  4. REMOVE GASKET 
    1. Peel off the gasket.

    2. Spray gasket remover or equivalent on the remaining tape of the gasket.
      NOTE: When using gasket remover or equivalent, cover the ECM connectors with a cloth.

    3. Remove the tape of the gasket without using bladed objects.
