Inspection Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (VSV FOR AICV)
- Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.
- Select the following menu items: Powertrain/Engine/Active Test/Activate the VSV for Intake Control and operate the VSV for AICV.
- Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by Techstream.
Standard
VSV OPERATION CONDITIONTester Operation Specified Condition VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter OK: Go to step 4
NG: Go to next step
- CHECK VSV (FOR AICV)
- Inspect the intake air control valve assembly (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
).
NG: REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY
OK: Go to next step
- Inspect the intake air control valve assembly (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
).
- INSPECT TERMINAL VOLTAGE (VSV FOR AICV CONNECTOR)
- Disconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON.
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) on the table below.
Standard voltage
VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONTester Connection Specified Condition 1 - Body ground 9 to 14 V NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 2 FUSE - VSV FOR AICV)
OK: Go to next step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM, VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY)
- Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
- Disconnect the ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance between the terminals of the wire harness side connectors and body ground.
Standard resistance (Check for open)
RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONSTester Connection Specified Condition VSV for AICV (A13-2) - AICV (A55-4) Below 1 Ω Standard resistance (Check for short)
RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONSTester Connection Specified Condition VSV for AICV (A13-2) or AICV (A55-4) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the ECM connector.

OK: Go to next step
- Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
- INSPECT VACUUM TANK
- Inspect the vacuum tank (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
).
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE AIR CLEANER CAP
OK: REPLACE ECM (See REMOVAL )
- Inspect the vacuum tank (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
).
