Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (VSV FOR AICV) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.
    2. Select the following menu items: Powertrain/Engine/Active Test/Activate the VSV for Intake Control and operate the VSV for AICV.
    3. Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by Techstream.

      Standard 

      VSV OPERATION CONDITION

      Tester Operation Specified Condition
      VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F
      VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter

      OK: Go to step  4

      NG: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK VSV (FOR AICV) 
    1. Inspect the intake air control valve assembly (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).

      NG: REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY 

      OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT TERMINAL VOLTAGE (VSV FOR AICV CONNECTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) on the table below.

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - Body ground 9 to 14 V

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (EFI NO. 2 FUSE - VSV FOR AICV) 

      OK: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM, VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY) 
    1. Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
      1. Disconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
      2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
      3. Measure the resistance between the terminals of the wire harness side connectors and body ground.

        Standard resistance (Check for open) 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        VSV for AICV (A13-2) - AICV (A55-4) Below 1 Ω

        Standard resistance (Check for short) 

        RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        VSV for AICV (A13-2) or AICV (A55-4) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the ECM connector.

        NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

        OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT VACUUM TANK 
    1. Inspect the vacuum tank (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).

      NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE AIR CLEANER CAP 

      OK: REPLACE ECM (See  REMOVAL   )
