Inspection Procedure
- INSPECT DLC3 (DLC3 (TC) - DLC3 (CG))
- Turn the engine switch on (IG).
- Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage
STANDARD VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition E22-13 (TC) - E22-4 (CG) Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
NG: Go to step 4
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION LINE
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG) and the Techstream on.
- Select "CAN Bus Check" from the System Selection Menu screen, and follow the prompts on the screen to inspect the CAN Bus.
OK: "CAN Bus Check" indicates no malfunctions in CAN communication.
NG: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING) (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the engine switch on (IG) and the Techstream on.
- Check for DTCs (See
HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING
).

- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - DLC3 (TC))
- Turn the engine switch off.
- Disconnect the A38 ECM connector.
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition A38-16 (TC) - E22-13 (TC) Always Below 1 Ω
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to Next Step
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DLC3 (CG) - BODY GROUND)
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance
STANDARD RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONTester Connection Condition Specified Condition E22-4 (CG) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK: Go to Next Step
- Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- CHECK ECM (DLC3 (TC) INPUT)
- Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
- Check that the malfunction indicator lamp is blinking.

- CHECK DTC (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)
- Turn the engine switch off.
