System Outline

It is a drive control system at constant speed by controlling fuel injection volume by operating switches at hand instead of accelerator pedal when a driver wants to drive at constant speed on a highway.

  1. Set Control

When the - SET switch is pressed while the cruise control switch is turned on and the vehicle is being driven, the vehicle will be maintained at the speed at which the - SET switch is released.

  2. Coast Control

If the - SET switch is held down while driving with the cruise control active, the ECM adjusts the throttle valve opening to zero and gradually and continually decelerates the vehicle.

  3. Tap Up Control

Every time the + RES switch is pressed momentarily (For approximately 0.6 sec.), the vehicle will be accelerated approximately 1.6 km/h

  4. Tap Down Control

Every time the - SET switch is pressed momentarily (For approximately 0.6 sec.), the vehicle will be decelerated approximately 1.6 km/h.

  5. Accel Control

If the + RES switch is held down while driving with the cruise control active, the ECM adjusts the throttle valve to gradually and continually accelerate the vehicle.

The vehicle will be maintained at the speed at which the + RES switch is released.

  6. Manual Cancel Mechanism

If any of the following signals is received while driving with the cruise control active, the cruise control will be cancelled.

    * The stop light switch assembly is turned on.

    * The CANCEL switch is turned on.

    * The ON-OFF switch is turned off.

    * The clutch pedal is depressed.

    * When the transmission is shifted from "D" to "N". (When shifted to 1 or 2 in sequential shift mode.)

  7. Auto Cancel Function

If any of the following conditions is encountered, the cruise control will be automatically cancelled.

    * The stop light switch assembly wiring is faulty or short-circuited.

    * The vehicle speed signal is faulty.

    * The electronically controlled throttle malfunctions.

  8. Shift-Down Control

When the vehicle climbs a hill while driving with the cruise control active, the gear may be shifted down by the A/T control. When the hill climbing has been determined to have finished, based on the throttle opening information, the gear will be shifted up again after a set time. If the gear is shifted down during acceleration or resume control, the gear is shifted back up after the acceleration or resume control ends.
