Rear Speed Sensor: Installation

HINT:

  1. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR 
    1. Clean the contact surface between the rear axle hub and bearing assembly and a new rear speed sensor.
      NOTE: Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the sensor rotor.
    2. Place the rear speed sensor on the rear axle hub and bearing assembly so that the connector is positioned at the bottom.

    3. Using SST, steel plates and a press, install a new speed sensor to the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

      SST 09214-76011 

      NOTE:
      • Keep the rear speed sensor away from magnets.
      • Do not use a hammer to install the rear speed sensor.
      • Check that there is no foreign matter such as iron chips on the detecting portion of the rear speed sensor.
      • Slowly press in the rear speed sensor straight.

  2. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY WITH REAR SPEED SENSOR (for Drum Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  3. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY WITH REAR SPEED SENSOR (for Disc Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  4. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS (for Disc Type)  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  5. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT (for Disc Type)  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  6. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS (for Drum Type)  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  7. INSPECT REAR AXLE HUB RUNOUT (for Drum Type)  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  8. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM (for Drum Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. ADJUST REAR BRAKE SHOE  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. INSTALL REAR DISC (for Disc Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for Disc Type)  (See REPLACEMENT )
  12. CONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Disc Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR (for Disc Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  14. CONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE (for Disc Type) 
    1. Connect the rear speed sensor wire connector to the rear speed sensor.

  15. CONNECT REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE (for Drum Type) 
    1. Connect the rear speed sensor wire connector to the rear speed sensor.
  16. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL (for Disc Type)  (See PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM )
  17. INSPECT REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER OPERATION LEVER AND STOPPER CLEARANCE (for Disc Type)  (See ADJUSTMENT )

  18. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Disc Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  19. INSTALL CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY (for Disc Type)  (See DISASSEMBLY )
  20. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Disc Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  21. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LH (for Disc Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  22. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL RH (for Disc Type)  (See INSTALLATION )
  23. INSTALL REAR WHEEL 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  24. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  25. INSPECT REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    (See REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT )

  26. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    without VSC (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE )

    with VSC (See TEST MODE PROCEDURE )
