Charging Indicator Circuit [08/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Health Check.
    4. Check for DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → GO TO DTC CHART 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGE LID SW) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Data List / Charge Lid SW.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Result

      Tester Display Condition Normal Condition
      Charge Lid SW Charging port lid open ON
      Charging port lid close OFF

      OK

      The Data List values change in accordance with the status of the charging port lid.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGE INDICATOR LIGHT STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Data List / Charge Indicator Light Status.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Result

      Tester Display Condition Normal Condition
      Charge Indicator Light Status During plug-in charging 3: Charging indicator illuminated
      Plug-in charging not being performed or has completed successfully 0: Charging Indicator turned off
      Plug-in charging malfunction 1: Charging Indicator blinking in short intervals
      2: Charging indicator blinking in long intervals

      OK

      Operation of the charging indicator matches the display of the Data List.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   8 

  4. INSPECT INDICATOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY (CHARGING INDICATOR) 
    1. Remove the indicator light assembly.
    2. Check the charging indicator.

      Result

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      S32-2 (+B1) - S32-4 (PILB) Auxiliary battery positive (+) → Terminal S32-2 (+B1)
      Auxiliary battery negative (-) → Terminal S32-4 (PILB)
      Charging indicator illuminates
      Auxiliary battery voltage is not applied between terminals S32-2 (+B1) and S32-4 (PILB) Charging indicator not illuminate

    3. Install the indicator light assembly.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (PIMR RELAY - INDICATOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the connector S32 from the indicator light assembly.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      S32-2 (+B1) - Body ground Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Indicator Light Assembly)
    4. Turn the power switch off.
    5. Connect the indicator light assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (INDICATOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY - PLUGIN CHARGE CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the connector S32 from the indicator light assembly.
    2. Disconnect connector S31 from the plugin charge control ECU assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      S32-4 (PILB) - S31-9 (PILB) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      S32-4 (PILB) or S31-9 (PILB) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

      *b Rear view of wire harness connector
      (to Plugin Charge Control ECU Assembly)
    4. Connect the plugin charge control ECU assembly connector.
    5. Connect the indicator light assembly connector.

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   9 

  7. REPLACE INDICATOR LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS [08/2014 - ] 
  8. GO TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2014 - ] 
  9. CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [08/2014 - ] 
  10. GO TO LIGHTING SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [08/2014 - ]
