Charging Indicator Circuit [09/2016 - 05/2019]: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Health Check.
    5. Check DTCs.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output A
      DTCs are output B
    6. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO DTC CHART 

    Result: 

    See step  2

  2. CHECK FOR VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Utility / Vehicle Control History (RoB).

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Vehicle Control History (RoB)
    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Utility / Vehicle Control History (RoB).

      Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Utility 

      Tester Display
      Vehicle Control History (RoB)
    6. Check for Vehicle Control History.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Vehicle Control History not stored A
      Vehicle Control History stored B
    7. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO VEHICLE CONTROL HISTORY 

    Result:

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CHARGING INDICATOR LIGHTING REQUEST) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Data List / Charging Indicator lighting Request.

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Charging Indicator lighting Request
    5. Using the electric vehicle charger cable assembly, plug-in charge the vehicle.
    6. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Charging Indicator lighting Request Charging indicator lighting request ON or OFF Charging indicator light illuminated: ON
      Charging indicator light not illuminated: OFF

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The display changes according to the charging indicator light condition. A
      The display does not change according to the charging indicator light condition. B
    7. Disconnect the electric vehicle charger cable assembly.
    8. Turn the power switch off.

    Result: 

    GO TO "PLUG-IN CHARGING DOES NOT START". Refer to  Plug-in Charging Does not Start [09/2016 - ]

  4. INSPECT CHARGING INDICATOR LIGHT (EV CHARGER LID INDICATOR ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the charging indicator light (EV charger lid indicator assembly).

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2016 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Charging Indicator Light (EV Charger Lid Indicator Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Condition Specified Condition
      Auxiliary battery positive (+) → Terminal 1 (PIL)
      Auxiliary battery negative (-) → Terminal 4 (GND)
      Charging indicator light illuminates
    3. Install the charging indicator light (EV charger lid indicator assembly).

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE EV CHARGER LID INDICATOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2016 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY - CHARGING INDICATOR LIGHT (EV CHARGER LID INDICATOR ASSEMBLY)) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the EV charger duct. (for Type A)

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21

    3. Disconnect the N74 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

    4. Disconnect the N60 charging indicator light (EV charger lid indicator assembly) connector.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Electric Vehicle Charger Assembly)
      *b Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Charging Indicator Light (EV Charger Lid Indicator Assembly))

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N74-11 (PIL) - N60-1 (PIL) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      N74-11 (PIL) or N60-1 (PIL) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher
    6. Reconnect the N60 charging indicator light (EV charger lid indicator assembly) connector.
    7. Reconnect the N74 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    8. Install the EV charger duct. (for Type A)

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS. Refer to  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS [09/2016 - ]
