  3. SIMULATION TEST (SETTING CHARGE SCHEDULE)
    NOTE:
    • Make sure to use a known good AC power source.
    • Use the same voltage that the customer used to plug-in charge the vehicle.

    HINT:

When setting the charge schedule, in order to prevent charging from starting immediately, make sure to pay attention to the following:

    • When setting a charging start time, make sure to set it for least 5 minutes from the current time.
    • When using the departure time setting, if a full charging cannot be completed by the scheduled departure time, charging will start immediately. Also, when the scheduled departure time is reached, if full charging has not been completed, charging will continue. During reproduction testing, to allow for the time necessary to obtain a full charge, be sure to set a departure time that is sufficiently far into the future when compared to the current time.

Setting the date (year/month/day) and time:

    1. Using the steering pad switches, set the following on the multi-information display.
      1. Time:

Set the time through the "Clock Setting" display.

      2. Date (Year/Month/Day):

Set the date (year/month/day) through the "Calendar" setting on the "Meter Customize" screen.

Timer charging operates in accordance with the set date (year/month/day) and time of the multi-information display, not with the time of the navigation receiver assembly.

    1. The time of the multi-information display is not automatically adjusted for changes in time zone or daylight savings time.
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Health Check.
    5. Clear DTCs.
    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Utility / Vehicle Control History (RoB).

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Utility

      Tester Display
      Vehicle Control History (RoB)
    7. Clear all Vehicle Control History items.
    8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Utility / Vehicle Control History (RoB).

Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Utility

      Tester Display
      Vehicle Control History (RoB)
    9. Clear all Vehicle Control History items.
    10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Hybrid/EV Battery SOC.

Powertrain > Hybrid Control > Data List

      Tester Display
      Hybrid/EV Battery SOC
    11. According to the display on the Techstream, read the Data List and confirm that the SOC of the HV battery is less than 70%.

      HINT:

If the SOC of the HV battery is 70% or more, drive the vehicle in EV mode to discharge the HV battery until the SOC becomes less than 70%.

    12. Check that the date and time displayed on the multi-information display are correct and adjust them if necessary.

      HINT:

As timer charging is performed based on the time, year, month and day of the multi-information display, make sure that they are set correctly.

    13. Using the multi-information display or navigation receiver assembly (for 11.6 inch display), set the charge schedule.
    14. Turn the power switch off.
    15. Connect the electric vehicle charger cable assembly to the vehicle and charge the HV battery using the timer charging.
    16. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    17. Enter the following menus: Health Check.
    18. Check DTCs.
    19. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Utility / Vehicle Control History (RoB).

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Utility

CAUSE ANALYSIS (USER / ENVIRONMENT RELATED CAUSE)

    1. Perform cause analysis in the order of "User" and "Environment" categories as specified in the following tables.
      USER RELATED CAUSE

Possible Cause Action to be Taken
Incorrect time, year, month or day set on multi-information display Explain to the customer that timer charging operates in accordance with the set date (year/month/day) and time of the multi-information display not with the time of the navigation receiver assembly.
      1. Explain to the customer that as the time on the multi-information display is not automatically adjusted for changes in time zone or daylight savings time, it is necessary to adjust the time manually.
Charge schedule setting was wrong Interview customer and provide instruction on usage.
Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2016 - ]
      1. Refer to Owner's Manual.
Charge Now was set to ON Explain to the customer that the Charge Now should be set to OFF when setting the charge schedule.
Charge schedule was set to OFF Explain to the customer that the charge schedule should be set to ON.
Charge schedule was set to Departure and set departure time was too close to current time Explain to the customer that if the set departure time is too close to the current time, charging will start immediately.
Charging connector was disconnected and reconnected while charging indicator (EV charger lid indicator assembly) was blinking (normal) Explain to the customer that if the charging connector is disconnected and then connected while the charging indicator (EV charger lid indicator assembly) is blinking (normal), the charge schedule will be canceled.
Remote air conditioning system was operated Explain to the customer that if the remote air conditioning system is operated, the charge schedule will be canceled and charging will start immediately.
      1. Explain to the customer that to activate the charge schedule after the remote air conditioning system is operated, stop the remote air conditioning system and disconnect and connect the charging connector.
      ENVIRONMENT RELATED CAUSE

Possible Cause Action to be Taken
Ambient temperature or HV battery temperature was low Explain to the customer that due to the operation of the HV battery heater, the charging indicator (EV charger lid indicator assembly) may be illuminated (charging not started).
      1. Applicable only if a departure time has been set using the charge schedule.
Charge control power drops due to abnormal electrical outlet voltage Interview customer and check the electrical outlet.
Refer to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2016 - ]
      1. An abnormality in the voltage of the electrical outlet or the ground wire connection may cause the electric vehicle charger cable assembly to restrict the charging current and thus cause charging time to increase. In this situation, the electrical outlet should be checked by a qualified electrician.
Estimated time until charging complete is excessively long Explain to the customer that if the estimated time until the completion of charging as shown on the multi-information display is long, charging may start immediately regardless of the departure time setting.
    2. Take appropriate action in accordance with the result of the cause analysis.
