Timer Charging Switch Circuit [09/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TIMER CHARGING SWITCH STATUS) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Plug-in Control / Data List / Timer Charging Switch Status.

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Timer Charging Switch Status
    5. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.

      Powertrain > Plug-in Control > Data List 

      Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition
      Timer Charging Switch Status Charging timer switch status ON or OFF Charging timer switch (fuel control switch) being pushed and held: ON
      Charging timer switch (fuel control switch) not operated: OFF
    6. Turn the power switch off.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      The display changes according to the charging timer switch (fuel control switch) operation A
      The display does not change according to the charging timer switch (fuel control switch) operation B

    Result: 

    PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE (PLUG-IN CHARGE CONTROL SYSTEM). Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2016 - ] 

    Result:

  2. INSPECT FUEL CONTROL SWITCH 
    1. Remove the charging timer switch (fuel control switch).

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2016 - ]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      6 (SW+) - 3 (E) Charging timer switch (fuel control switch) being pushed and held Below 50 Ω
      Charging timer switch (fuel control switch) not operated 10 kΩ or higher

      *a Component without harness connected
      (Charging Timer Switch (Fuel Control Switch))
    3. Install the charging timer switch (fuel control switch).

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE FUEL CONTROL SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2016 - ] 

    Result: 

    OK

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY - FUEL CONTROL SWITCH) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Remove the EV charger duct. (for Type A)

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 21 [09/2016 - 05/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28 [05/2019 - 07/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 28 [07/2020 - ]

    3. Disconnect the N74 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

    4. Disconnect the I44 charging timer switch (fuel control switch) connector.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      N74-9 (PTMS) - I44-6 (SW+) Power switch off Below 1 Ω
      N74-9 (PTMS) or I44-6 (SW+) - Body ground and other terminals Power switch off 10 kΩ or higher

    6. Reconnect the I44 charging timer switch (fuel control switch) connector.
    7. Reconnect the N74 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    8. Install the EV charger duct. (for Type A)

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL CONTROL SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the I44 charging timer switch (fuel control switch) connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I44-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    3. Reconnect the I44 charging timer switch (fuel control switch) connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2016 - 05/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [05/2019 - 07/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
