AC Line Insulation Malfunction [09/2016 - ]: Procedure

  1. SIMULATION TEST 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Perform plug-in charging using the electric vehicle charger cable assembly that the customer used.
    2. Check the condition of the power and error warning indicators on the electric vehicle charger cable assembly.

      HINT: 

      For details on the status of the power and error warning indicators, refer to Charge Cable On-vehicle Inspection.

      Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [09/2016 - ]

      Result

    GO TO ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CABLE ASSEMBLY INSPECTION. Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION [09/2016 - ]

  2. CHECK ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CABLE ASSEMBLY (USING A KNOWN GOOD ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER CABLE ASSEMBLY) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Perform plug-in charging using a known good electric vehicle charger cable assembly that the customer used.
    2. Check the condition of the power and error warning indicators on the electric vehicle charger cable assembly.

  3. CHECK HV BATTERY CHARGER WIRE (ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY - CHARGING INLET) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Check that the electric vehicle charger cable assembly is not connected.
    3. Remove the rear under side cover RH.

      Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 40 [09/2016 - 05/2019] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 38 [05/2019 - 07/2020] , or refer to PROCEDURE - Step 41 [07/2020 - ]

    4. Disconnect the U6 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.

    5. Using a megohmmeter set to 500 V, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
      NOTE:

      Be sure to set the megohmmeter to 500 V when performing this test. Using a setting higher than 500 V can result in damage to the component being inspected.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      U6-1 (ACIH) - Body ground Power switch off 10 MΩ or higher
      U6-2 (ACIC) - Body ground Power switch off 10 MΩ or higher

      *a HV Battery Charger Wire
      (Electric Vehicle Charger Assembly Side)
    6. Reconnect the U6 electric vehicle charger assembly connector.
    7. Install the rear under side cover RH.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2016 - 05/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [05/2019 - 07/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG

  4. CHECK INLET AC CHARGER CABLE (CHARGING INLET - HV BATTERY CHARGER WIRE CONNECTOR) 
    WARNING:

    Be sure to wear insulated gloves.

    1. Check that the service plug grip is not installed.
      NOTE:

      After removing the service plug grip, do not turn the power switch on (READY), unless instructed by the Service Information because this may cause a malfunction.

    2. Disconnect the Uh1 inlet AC charger cable connector.

    3. Using a megohmmeter set to 500 V, measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
      NOTE:

    4. Reconnect the Uh1 inlet AC charger cable connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE HV BATTERY CHARGER WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2016 - 05/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [05/2019 - 07/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE INLET AC CHARGER CABLE. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2016 - 05/2019]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [05/2019 - 07/2020]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - ]
