DTC U0235: Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor [11/2017 - 09/2019]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (CAN BUS CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Enter the following menus: System Select / CAN Bus Check.

      Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM [11/2017 - 09/2019]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      All of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed A
      None of the ECUs and sensors that are currently connected to the CAN communication system are displayed, or some of them are not displayed B

    Result: 

    GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [11/2017 - 09/2019]

  2. CHECK FOR DTCs (CAN COMMUNICATION DTC OUTPUT) 

    HINT: 

    When pre-collision system DTC U1002 is output, check that the local bus is functioning normally by performing the diagnostic procedure for U1002.

    1. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2017 - ]

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      DTC U1002 is not output A
      DTC U1002 is output B

    Result: 

    GO TO PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM. Refer to  DTC U1002: Lost Communication with Gateway Module [11/2017 - 09/2019]

  3. CHECK FOR SHORT IN CAN BUS LINE (FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA) 
    1. Turn the ignition switch off.
    2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Disconnect the forward recognition camera connector.

    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F46-6 (CANH) - F46-12 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 108 to 132 Ω

      HINT: 

      If the result is not as specified, a malfunction in a CAN communication line is suspected.

    5. Connect the forward recognition camera connector.
    6. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE (FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA)) 
    1. Disconnect the forward recognition camera connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      F46-7 (IGB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Connect the forward recognition camera connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

    Result: 

    OK

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the forward recognition camera connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F46-10 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Connect the forward recognition camera connector.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      M8-8 (IGB) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Connect the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

      Result

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      M8-1 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Connect the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.

      Result

  8. REPLACE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2017 - 09/2019]

    2. Adjust the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly.

      Refer to ADJUSTMENT [11/2017 - 09/2020]

  9. CHECK FOR DTCs (FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA SYSTEM) 
    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2017 - ]

    2. Make sure that the DTC detection conditions are met.

      HINT: 

      If the conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.

    3. Check for DTCs.

      Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR [11/2017 - ]

  10. CHECK MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR WIRE 
    1. Disconnect the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the millimeter wave radar wire connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EP1-5 - M8-5 (CA1P) Always Below 1 Ω
      EP1-6 - M8-6 (CA1N) Always Below 1 Ω

    4. Connect the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly connector.
    5. Connect the millimeter wave radar wire connector.

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (CAN BUS LINE) 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2017 - 09/2019] 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the millimeter wave radar wire connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      EP1-8 - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Connect the millimeter wave radar wire connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2017 - 09/2019]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR WIRE - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the millimeter wave radar wire connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      EP1-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Connect the millimeter wave radar wire connector.

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR WIRE. Refer to  REMOVAL [11/2017 - 09/2019]

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

  13. REPLACE FORWARD RECOGNITION CAMERA 
    1. Replace the forward recognition camera.

      Refer to REMOVAL [11/2017 - ]

    2. Perform forward recognition camera axis adjustment.

      Refer to ADJUSTMENT (SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION) [11/2017 - 09/2020]
