LUCAS Single Breaker Point Distributors: Overhaul: Disassembly

  1. On models equipped with tachometer drive gear, remove gear before starting disassembly. Remove rotor, breaker points, condenser, and terminal block (if equipped).
    NOTE: Note order In which Insulators, low-tension and condenser leads are removed from connector at breaker points.

  2. Remove lock pin or screws retaining vacuum unit and remove unit from distributor body. Remove breaker plate assembly. Drive out retaining pin, then remove coupling (or gear) from end of distributor shaft.
    NOTE: Before removing coupling (H equipped), note relationship of coupling offset key to rotor locating slot as viewed from coupling end, then mark position of coupling on end of shaft for reassembly reference.
  3. Remove shaft from distributor housing. Note positioning of centrifugal advance parts for reassembly reference. Remove cam retaining screw, centrifugal advance springs, and cam. Remove centrifugal weights.
