Windshield Removal And Installation/Replacement

Removal Procedure:
- Open the Hood
- Remove Air Inlet Grille Panel. Refer to AIR INLET GRILLE PANEL AND EXTENSION REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove Windshield Camera. Refer to WINDSHIELD CAMERA REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove Windshield Rain and Light Sensor. Refer to WINDSHIELD RAIN AND LIGHT SENSOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Remove both A-Pillar Upper Trim Panel. Refer to A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Use a glass adhesive cutter to cut the front windshield adhesive along the window sheet metal opening. Access from the inside and outside of the vehicle as show above by the arrows.NOTE: Damage
Risk of damage to vehicle paint work.- Mask off/protect paint work appropriately to avoid damage.
- With the help of a technician, use glass suction cup assist tools to remove the windshield.
- Remove any excessive residual adhesive from the body sheet metal. Clean the body sheet metal surface using Isopropyl Alcohol or "BETACLEAN 3000".NOTE: Damage
Risk of damage to vehicle paint work.- Mask off/protect paint work appropriately to avoid damage.
Clean the body sheet metal surface using Isopropyl Alcohol or "BETACLEAN 3000".
Installation Procedure:
Follow the below steps to fit a new replacement Windshield to the vehicle.
- The front windshield is placed on a dedicated workbench or stand with cloth covering with the convex surface facing down.
Note, take care during placement to avoid damage to the glass surface.
- Clean the windshield inside glass surface using Isopropyl Alcohol or "BETACLEAN 3000".
Wipe with a clean dry cloth or with binder-free tissues.
- Use a brush to evenly apply one layer of glass primer "BETAPRIME 5500" or equivalent to the inside surface of the windscreen as indicated by the red area (1) shown above.
Wait at least 3 minutes for the primer to dry completely.
Avoid contact with the primed surface.
- Check spacer (1) for damage and replace if necessary
- Use a casing gun to apply a continuous 12 mm diameter bead of windscreen adhesive (1) "BETASEAL 1858-1" or equivalent to the primed windshield surface as shown above.
- With the help of a technician, used suction cup assist tools to fit the windshield to the vehicle. Align the windshield in the vehicle sheet metal.
- Press down along the glass edges to position the windshield onto the windshield blocks.
Installation note: When installing the glass, the door should be opened to avoid air pressure increase in the compartment.
- Check the gap and alignment between the body and the glass. Remove any excess or protruding adhesive.
- Install the Windshield Rain Light Sensor. Refer to WINDSHIELD RAIN AND LIGHT SENSOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT .
- Install the Windshield Camera. Refer to WINDSHIELD CAMERA REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Install both A-Pillar Upper Trim Panel. Refer to A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Open and secure Hood.
- Install Air Inlet Grille Panel. Refer to AIR INLET GRILLE PANEL AND EXTENSION REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Close the Hood.
- Perform Camera and Rain/Light Sensor learns and configurations. Refer to DIAGNOSTICS, PROGRAMMING AND SETUP USING SCAN TOOL IN SERVICE
The whole vehicle must stand for 24 ~ 48 hours, so that the adhesive is completely cured before the vehicle can be driven.
