One Time Use/Single Use Nuts/Bolts

VinFast utilizes a range of Torque Prevailing Fasteners for safety critical joints. The nature of torque prevailing fasteners is that tightening of the fastener results in permanent deformation of the fastener. For this reason once the fastener has been torqued to specification it cannot be reused. Failure to discard the specified fasteners may result in loosening of critical joints.

Service Instructions will highlight these fasteners within the procedure. During removal the instruction will recommend to "discard" the fastener and during installation the instruction will state to "Replace with new only".

Samples of the instructions and warnings associated with Torque Prevailing Fasteners are shown here.

Remove and discard the torque prevailing nut/bolt.

Replace with new only

Torque - first pass: 60 Nm

Torque - final pass: 48° rotation angle

Failure to discard the specified component(s) may cause damage to the vehicle or vehicle components.
  • Fasteners highlighted as torque prevailing must be discarded and may not be re-used.
