Transmission Fluid Replacement And Drain/Fill Plug Removal And Installation/Replacement

WARNING: Electricity hazard 
Failure to follow specified procedures may result in death or serious injury from electric shock when working on or near high-voltage components.
  • Only authorised and appropriately trained persons may carry out work on high-voltage vehicles and components.
  • Perform High Voltage isolation procedure prior to commencing work.
  • Ensure appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is worn until the system is verified safe.
WARNING: Toxic material 
Failure to follow specified procedures may result in death or serious injury possible due to differential oil.
  • Burns to eyes and skin possible.
  • Work only in well-ventilated workplaces.
  • Avoid ingestion or inhalation.
  • Follow specific instructions on hazard sheet.
  • Always use personal protective equipment (PPE).
WARNING: Hot surface 
Failure to follow specified procedures may result in severe injuries due to burns or scalds.
  • Do not commence work until components/liquids have sufficiently cooled down.
  • Always use personal protective equipment (PPE).

Removal Procedure: 

  1. Disable HV-System. Refer to VEHICLE HIGH VOLTAGE ISOLATION AND ENABLING PROCEDURE
  2. There is only one type of transmission fluid suitable for the eMotor. Refer to APPROXIMATE FLUID CAPACITIES AND SPECIFICATIONS

    Removal note: Before disconnecting the eMotor sump plug, place a container at the bottom of the vehicle to catch the transmission fluid to avoid polluting the ground 

  3. Remove the eMotor sump plug (1) from the eMotor to drain the transmission fluid. Discard the transmission fluid.

Torque: 55 Nm 

NOTE: Environmental Risk 
  • Collect and dispose of leaking liquids.
  • Observe country-specific disposal regulations.

Installation Procedure:

Installation note: The Sealing ring (1) always has to be replaced! The old sealing ring cannot be reused.

  1. Refit the eMotor sump plug (1) and tighten to 55 Nm.
  2. Remove the Oil Fill plug (2), located at the front of the eMotor transmission housing (3).
  3. Refill in eMotor with 1 litre of transmission fluid. Refer to APPROXIMATE FLUID CAPACITIES AND SPECIFICATIONS
  4. Refit the Oil Fill plug (2) and tighten to 55 Nm.
  5. Enable HV-System. Refer to VEHICLE HIGH VOLTAGE ISOLATION AND ENABLING PROCEDURE
