Rear Side Body Window Removal And Installation/Replacement

Mobile Repair Possible:  No

Removal Procedure: 

The procedure for the left-hand component is identical to that for the right-hand side. 

  1. Remove c-pillar upper trim panel. Refer to C-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT
  2. Remove c-pillar lower trim panel. Refer to C-PILLAR LOWER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  3. Use a glass adhesive cutter to cut the window adhesive around the body sheet metal as indicated above by the arrows.
    NOTE: Damage
    Risk of damage to vehicle paint work.
    • Mask off/protect paint work appropriately to avoid damage.
  4. Detach the clipping feature (1).
  5. Use glass suction cup assist tools to remove the window.
  6. Remove any excessive residual adhesive from the body sheet metal.
    NOTE: Damage
    Risk of damage to vehicle paint work.
    • Mask off/protect paint work appropriately to avoid damage.
  7. Clean the body sheet metal surface using Isopropyl Alcohol or "BETACLEAN 3000".

  1. Clean the glass surface using Isopropyl Alcohol or "BETACLEAN 3000". Wipe with a clean dry cloth or with binder-free tissues.
  2. Use a brush to evenly apply one layer of glass primer "BETAPRIME 5500" or equivalent over a 40 mm wide area (1) around the periphery of the glass inside surface. Wait at least 3 minutes for the primer to dry completely.

    Installation note: Avoid contact with the primed surface.

  3. Use a casing gun to apply a continuous 10 mm diameter bead of glass adhesive (1) "BETASEAL 1858-1" or equivalent to the primed glass surface as shown above.
  4. Place the glass in the correct position, aligning the glass clipping features to the corresponding holes in the body sheet metal. Press gently along the glass edges and check the gap and alignment between the body and the glass.

    Remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

  5. Adhesive drying time is temperature dependent. Do not drive the vehicle before the time indicated in the table below.

  6. Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.
  7. Install c-pillar lower trim panel. Refer to C-PILLAR LOWER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  8. Install c-pillar upper trim panel. Refer to C-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT
