Is the Customer Concern a fault and not a characteristic of vehicle?
Listen and Understand the customer concern. Obtain as much information as possible from the customer.
- Are there aftermarket accessories on the vehicle?
- When does the condition occur?
- Where does the condition occur?
- How long does the condition last?
- How often does the condition occur?
- Can the technician reproduce the customer concern?
In order to verify the concern, the technician should be familiar the normal operation of the vehicle system and refer to the owner's manual or service information for any guidance needed.
Inspect the vehicle systems and components that are visible for obvious damage or conditions that may cause the concern or associated symptoms. Review the service history. Detect unusual sounds or odors.
If there is no obvious fault check if the vehicle is operating as designed. Does this condition exist when the vehicle is found to be operating normally? The condition described by the customer may be normal. Compare with another like vehicle that operating normally under the same conditions described by the customer. Explain your findings and the operation of the system to the customer referring to the owner's manual or service information. If the customer is still dissatisfied submit a Dealer Technical Report (DTR).
If the symptom is not a mechanical issue but related to the vehicles electronic control systems (ECU's) do not to clear any DTC's unless instructed to do so by a DTC repair instruction referenced later.
Are there any relevant bulletins/notices/newsletters in VF Service Technical Portal?
Review VinFast Service Technical Portal for related information such as recalls, campaigns, bulletins or field action information related to the concern or associated symptoms.
Are there any aftermarket accessories fitted or modifications?
Aftermarket accessories should not be fitted to any safety critical circuits such as airbags.
Disconnect any aftermarket accessory system to verify that these add-on accessories are not the cause of the problems. Possible causes of vehicle problems related to aftermarket accessories include:
Electrical Interference from
- Transceiver wiring too close to vehicle ECU's or wiring;
- Antenna location, poor shielding or connectors on feed wiring
- Accessory power feeds connected to points other than the battery
No aftermarket modifications should be made to the vehicles' hardware or software. If any modifications have been made to these they should be investigated as a potential cause for any issue. Investigating modifications to the vehicle's software may involve checking part numbers of ECU's and CRC/Checksum values vs what is specified for the vehicle.
