- Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
- Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work
- When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components
- Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately
Removal Procedure:
- There is potential for inadvertent deployment of SRS systems during repairs if the system has not been properly disabled. Refer to AIRBAG SUPPLEMENTARY RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) DISABLING AND ENABLINGNOTE: Ensure the 2-minute wait time has been observed before proceeding to next step.
- Remove the airbag steering wheel module. Refer to AIRBAG STEERING WHEEL MODULE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
- Unlock and disconnect 3 electrical connectors (1).
Removal note: Pay attention to the wiring as it may get caught in the steering wheel during removal process.
- Remove bolt (1) and remove the Steering Wheel. Do not re-use this bolt.
Torque: 62.5 Nm
Replacement Procedure:
- Rebuild the multi function switch. Refer to STEERING WHEEL MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
Installation Procedure:
- Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following. All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification!
- Install the airbag steering wheel module. Refer to AIRBAG STEERING WHEEL MODULE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
