ISSUE
Some 1983-84 Volkswagen Rabbits may have intermittent electrical troubles such as no-starts, erratic dash gauge readings, etc. When you are troubleshooting these problems, always check the engine/ transmission mount under the battery. The battery ground is bolted to this mount under the battery. The mount's through-bolts can work themselves loose and cause an intermittent ground connection. Be sure this connection is clean and tight.
