VANAGON STALLING PROBLEM

MANUFACTURER: Volkswagon

MODELS: Vanagon

ISSUE & TIP

A failed idle stabilizer may cause stalling at stops on Volkswagen Vanagon models equipped with A/C and automatic transmission. The electronic idle stabilizer advances timing 10 degrees with the A/C on.

Make sure the timing advances 10 degrees from the initial timing. If the timing remains at the factory setting, replace the idle stabilizer. Idle stabilizers are also known to cause ignition primary failure. Always check for vacuum leaks, tune-up specs, etc. before condemning the idle stabilizer.
