Generator Warning Light Does Not Go Out With Speed Increase
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect D+ terminal at generator (Blue wire). On 5-cylinder models, remove engine coolant pump relay from relay position No. 14. On all models, turn ignition switch to ON position. Observe GEN warning light. If lamp lights up, go to next step. If lamp does not light up, go to GENERATOR

- Remove multipoint connector "F" from fuse/relay panel. See Fig 1
. If lamp does not light up, there is a short to ground in D+ wire between generator and fuse/relay panel terminal F/3. Repair short to ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. If lamp lights up, go to next step.
- Remove multi-point connector U2 from fuse/relay panel. See Fig 1
. Turn ignition to ON position. If lamp does not light up, there is a short to ground in fuse/relay panel. Replace fuse/relay panel. If lamp lights up, there is a short to ground in D+ wire from fuse/relay terminal U2/12 to 28-pin connector (T28) on instrument cluster, or short to ground in printed circuit board in instrument cluster. Repair wire, or replace printed circuit board, as necessary.
