For concerns with updating software on all modules follow tips below:
- When using the VAS 6150, 6150A or 6160A scan tool to perform a SW update, be sure to have the USB cable attached to the scan tool for the data link connector. Any interruption in the communication of the Bluetooth connection can cause the flash to fail, so a hard line is recommended.
- Make sure the battery voltage is maintained above 12.5 volts using a charger.
- Make sure the shifter is in park when performing the flash.
- If the flash fails, try selecting a different carline with similar module and use the same unit code (If through SVM).
- An error code 800.11 means wrong test plan or unit code was selected. Double check the selection, and retry the flash.
If an ECM flash fails before replacement of the ECM, check the status of the MIL light. If the MIL comes on, then the ECM is not damaged. Disconnect the battery for 30-60 minutes, and then retry the flash again.
