Camshaft Adjustment: Notes
WARNING:
For safety during road test, it is advisable to have a helper operate tester from rear seat. If test and measuring instruments are operated from front passenger's seat and vehicle is involved in an accident, there is a possibility the person sitting in this seat may receive serious injuries when airbag is deployed.
NOTE:
Manufacturers alphanumeric identification varies when identifying Camshaft Adjustment Valves. Manufacturers alphanumeric identification will be noted in the model specific Camshaft Adjustment procedures.
NOTE:
Camshaft adjustment occurs depending on engine load and RPM. Camshaft adjustment valves (N205) and (N208) are opened by ECM, directing oil pressure to camshaft adjuster, which moves camshaft. Manufacturer recommends using Scan Tool VAG 1551, 1552 or VAS 5051/5052. Following test procedures are using Scan Tool VAG 1551/1552 or VAS 5051/5052.
NOTE:
When voltage supply to ECM is interrupted, ECM looses all "learned" and/or "basic" values. Serious driveability problems may occur depending on vehicle mileage. A relearn procedure must be performed, see TEST DRIVE RELEARN PROCEDURE
