Overview - The Most150 Data Bus

Volkswagen uses the MOST150 optical Data-Bus for the 2015 Golf. The MOST 150 is based on the MOST 25 system.

MOST means "Media Oriented System Transport". It is a serial bus system for transmitting audio, video, speech and data signals, using fiber optic cables. MOST has a ring network structure that can include up to 64 MOST devices.

The MOST150 in the 2015 Golf has the following features:

• Data transfer rate: 150 Mbit/s (3072 bits per transmission unit)
• Ring topology
• Cyclical and event-driven data transfer
• High level of interference immunity to electromagnetic influences

Data is transmitted digitally using light signals through a fiber optic cable. Compared to radio waves, fiber optics use very short wavelengths. The signals are not affected by electromagnetic interference.
