Injection Nozzles: Notes

NOTE: A Blue plastic protective sleeve is fitted on the injector venturi neck in order to protect the needle from carbon deposits. It should not be removed. Injectors with sleeves require a larger I.D. lower sealing ring. Ensure that you are installing the right sealing ring for the injector. Injector with sleeve may be installed in place of an injector without sleeve by removing sleeve.

Problems with injection nozzles usually are accompanied by knocking in 1 or more cylinders, engine overheating, loss of power or performance, black exhaust smoke, and increased fuel consumption. To locate and correct faulty injectors, proceed as follows:

One at a time, with engine running at fast idle, loosen line unions on each injection nozzle. If engine speed remains constant with line removed that nozzle is defective.

NOTE: When one or more injectors are replaced or adjusted, all other injectors must be tested and adjusted if necessary. Failure to do so will affect engine performance.
