Detonation (Knock) Sensor (760 GLE)

  1. Disconnect fuel distribution pipe connector. Connect a jumper wire across terminals No. 1 and No. 2 on both knock sensors. See Fig 1 .

  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect ignition ECU connector. Remove panel under left side of instrument panel to gain access to ECU. Push out clip and disconnect ECU connector.
  3. Remove cover from ECU connector to expose pin identification numbers. Connect ohmmeter leads between ECU connector pins No. 12 (Black wire) and No. 13 (Gray wire), and then between pins No. 24 (Brown wire) and No. 25 (Green wire). See Figure . Ohmmeter should indicate continuity.
  4. If ohmmeter resistance is high (infinity), one or both wires may be shorted. Remove jumper wire and take reading with ohmmeter on each wire. Replace damaged wires as required. If wires are not damaged, replace knock sensor.
