Charge Air OVERPRESSURE Switch

  1. Charge air overpressure switch is located next to coolant expansion tank in engine compartment. Connect air pressure gauge and pressure tester to intake manifold.
    CAUTION: When testing system, DO NOT  increase pressure to more than 17 psi (1.2 kg/cm2 ) or damage to dashboard pressure gauge can result.
  2. Start engine. Using pressure tester, pump pressure tester until engine stalls (charge air overpressure switch opens). Engine should stall at 12.3-13.8 psi (.86-.97 kg/cm2 ). Replace charge air overpressure switch if not within specification.
CAUTION: For following tests requiring ignition or fuel Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to be disconnected, ensure ignition switch is in OFF position before disconnecting or connecting ECU connector. Damage to ECU can result otherwise.
