Roll-Over Protection System

In the event of a roll-over, the ROPS control unit deploys roll bars from the ROPS cartridges located behind rear passenger seats to their maximum extension of 20 inches. See Figure . When the ROPS control unit senses a roll-over, in addition to deployment of roll bars, all 4 seat belt tensioners are tightened within a fraction of a second to eliminate any slack, preventing passengers from being ejected from the vehicle.

The ROPS cartridges can be manually deployed and reset for service. See MANUAL DEPLOYMENT OF ROLL-OVER PROTECTION SYSTEM CARTRIDGES  . When ROPS cartridges are manually or automatically deployed, the ROPS indicator light on the instrument panel will come on.
