Axle Shafts, Transmission Control Module - Removal, Replacement And Installation (Convertible)

• Drive Shafts, Boot Replacement (Aw50-42; 1998-2000)
  • Constant velocity joints, inner
    • Notes
    • Expose the outer constant velocity joint
    • Remove the constant velocity joint from the shaft
    • Remove the clamp from the inner boot if it is to be replaced
    • Install the new boots on the drive shaft
    • Fit the boots
  • Constant velocity joints, outer
    • Notes
    • Expose the outer constant velocity joint
    • Remove the constant velocity joint from the shaft
    • Cleaning / checking the outer constant velocity joint
    • Disassembly And Reassembly
      • Remove the ball bearings.
      • Remove the bearing race and the inner ring from the shaft.
      • Wash the constant velocity joint components thoroughly.
      • Install the inner ring in the bearing race.
    • Greasing and installation
      • Lubricate the constant velocity joint thoroughly.
      • Install the new boots on the drive shaft
      • Fit the boots

    • Install the drive shaft into the transmission
    • Left drive shaft

    • Tighten drive shaft nut

      • Install:
      • Reinstall the front wheel

    • Wipe grease off constant velocity joint
    • Remove constant velocity joint from drive shaft
    • Clean CV constant velocity joint thoroughly
    • Press off circlip and pilot bearing from shaft
    • Install new bearing and new circlip
    • Install new circlip in constant velocity joint
    • Assembly of inner and outer drive shafts:
    • Insert the rest of the grease into the constant velocity joint
