Gear Selector Assembly: Installation
- Install gear selector unit into vehicle. Position wiring under center console. Tighten mounting bolts to 71 INCH. lbs. (8 N.m).
- Install new shift knob. Ensure that plastic collar is in place and correctly positioned. See Fig 1

- Connect wire harness connector.
- Raise and support vehicle. Connect shift cable to gear selector unit. Move selector to Park. Install cable snap ring and connect control rod to gear lever arm. Install rod with washer and retaining clip. Ensure ring is seated properly in groove.
- Lower vehicle. Connect ignition lock cable if equipped. See IGNITION LOCK CABLE

- Install interior components. See Figure

- Connect negative battery cable.
- Check function of gear selector. Adjust when working properly. See GEAR SELECTOR LINKAGE
under ADJUSTMENTS.
- Check function of ignition lock. See IGNITION LOCK SYSTEM
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Check Shift Lock Override function. See SHIFT LOCK OVERRIDE
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
