Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Check DTC status to see if fault is intermittent or permanent. Connect a scan tool and start engine. Hold down brake pedal and press accelerator pedal down simultaneously. Fault is intermittent if RPM increases. Fault is permanent if RPM does not increase. If fault is permanent, go to step  2. If fault is intermittent, go to step  3.
  2. Connect scan tool and turn ignition ON. Read out DTCs from CDM which is part of instrument cluster. If there are DTCs for communication problems with the ECM/electronic throttle module stored in driver information module, diagnose each DTC as necessary. If no other DTCs are present, throttle unit registered a communication fault previously but has detected that fault is no longer present. Repair is complete if fault does not recur.
NOTE: The Can and Driver Information Module (CDM) has overall control of the communications network. The CDM can store a number of fault codes. In case of communication problems, the fault may exist in another part of the communications network.
  3. Throttle unit registered a communication fault previously but has detected that fault is no longer present. Repair is complete if fault does not recur.
