Engine Control Module: Removal

  1. Ignition OFF. Wait engine cooling fan to stop running.
  2. Remove cover of ECM box and pull to one side. See Figure-Figure .
    3. CAUTION: DO NOT touch control module electrical terminals with fingers. Static electricity can permanently damage control module.
  3. Place Special Tool (999 5572) or equivalent puller around ECM. See Fig 1. Move upper section of puller as far backward as it will go.
  4. Pull upward and carefully lift control module up and out.
