Removing the headlining
Remove:
- the sun visors. See Sun visor, replacing
- the roof module. See Upper electronic module (UEM)/rearview mirror, replacing
- the grab handles
- the mounting for the cargo net
- the rear reading lamp. See Bulb, reading lamp, rear, replacing
- the connector for the rear reading lamp
- the roof clip.
- the cantrail panel. See Panel cantrail, replacing .
Detach and fold down:
- the D-post panel. See Panel D-post, replacing
- the C-post panel. See Panel C-post, replacing .
HINT: Leave the headlining hanging from the B-posts.
Remove the A-post panel. See Panel, A-post, replacing .
Remove the washer hose at the lower corner by the right-hand A-post.
Detach the washer hose at the trunk lid.
There is a risk spillage.
Remove the clips from the cable for the reading lamp.
Cars equipped with sun roofs:
Remove the molding around the sun roof.
Pull the molding inwards into the car. Start at the short side so that the corners release.
Carefully detach the headlining from the B-posts.
Pull the headlining out through the tailgate at an angle.
HINT: Try to keep the headlining as close to the floor as possible.
Transfer:
- the front volume sensor (mass movement sensor). See Mass movement sensor module (MMS) front, replacing
- the rear volume sensor. See Mass movement sensor module (MMS) rear, replacing
- the cable harness.
Use tape (P/N 944 1891) to secure the cable harness to the new headlining. Tape the entire cable harness to the headlining so that it is secure.
