Verifying Repairs Using Trip Driving Schedule: Notes

After completing repairs it may be necessary to check that a fault has been remedied. Performing a TRIP cycle ensures that ECM has carried out a self-diagnostic for the function/component that has been repaired and ensures that DTC has not recurred. Test must take place on a road with little traffic where it is possible to drive slowly and stop at the side of the road.

For all diagnostics to be carried out, engine coolant temperature must not be above 77°F(25°C) before testing. If the car has been without power and misfire-related DTC's are to be verified, a flywheel adaptation must be carried out before verification. See FLYWHEEL ADAPTION .
