Fault Conditions
Control modules communicate with each other in a network via a standardized serial communication method - CAN (Controller Area Network). Electronic throttle module has registered a fault in communication on CAN network. CAN signal from ECM is missing or not updated. ECM-912A is stored in ECM.
No substitute values are used but some systems are disabled.
- Accelerator pedal is ignored when braking
- Cruise control cannot be activated
- RPM is limited using fuel shut off. Maximum permitted engine speed depends on accelerator pedal position.
- Throttle unit follows Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) accelerator pedal signal directly and control signal via CAN is ignored.
The following only applies in combination with ECM-9180 or ECM-918F:
- Throttle unit is in mechanical limp home mode
- Throttle disc is in fixed position
NOTE:
Electronic Throttle System (ETS) warning lamp lights while ECM-911A is set.
DTC can also cause uneven idle, jerking during engine braking and very poor throttle response.
The following only applies in combination with ECM-9180 or ECM-918F: Maximum speed approximately 32 MPH (50 km/h).
