Intake System Leak Test
- Inspect all tube connections. Ensure each is undamaged and connected fully with clamp tightened. Check hose between the charge air cooler and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve for damage and cracking. Charge air cooler is installed in front of radiator. Replace if necessary.
- Disconnect fresh air intake hose from Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. Connect Adapter (999-5545) and Pressure Regulator (999-5544) to intake hose. See Fig 1. Seal crankcase ventilation hose using a hose clip and remove oil filler cap. See Fig 2. Disconnect lower hose from canister purge valve.

- Adjust Pressure Regulator to a maximum pressure of 4.3 psi (0.3 bar). Slight hissing from oil filler cap opening is normal.
- Apply soap solution to all hose connections. Bubbles are normal around throttle spindle and between throttle body and intake hose if hose is plastic. Bubbles are not normal around rubber hose connections or anywhere else on intake system. Repair leaks as necessary and go to next step.
- Remove pressure testing equipment. Connect hoses. Ensure all hose clamps are tightened and all components are reinstalled.
