With the remote control

When the upper electronic module (UEM) receives a locking command, it sends a command to the rear electronic module (REM). The rear electronic module (REM) first engages central locking and then activates the alarm. The alarm LED will begin to flash directly after system activation. However, the rear electronic module (REM) will disregard signals from the mass movement sensor module (MMS) and the inclination sensor module (ISM) until 25 seconds have transpired or after deadlock mode has been engaged by the central locking function.

For more information on the central locking function, see Design  and Function .

With the key

An alarm activation function for a vehicle that is locked with the key is available in certain markets. In this case, a locking command is sent to the rear electronic module (REM) from the driver door module (DDM) when a switch in the driver's door lock cylinder is actuated. When the rear electronic module (REM) has engaged the central lock, the alarm is activated. This function is controlled by the vehicle configuration file which is stored in the central electronic module (CEM).

For more information on the central locking function, see Design  and Function .

With the interior central locking switches

The alarm can be activated after an interior central locking switch has been used to engage the central locking in vehicles that are configured for a dual stage central locking function. The vehicle will be fully protected approximately 25 seconds after the last door is closed.

For more information on the central locking function, see Design  and Function .

Passive activation

There is a passive activation function available on the Belgian and Israeli markets. After a driving cycle has been completed (ignition on, engine running, ignition off), the driver's door has been opened and closed and the ignition key is in position 0, 1 or removed, the alarm will be activated after approximately 1.5 minutes. Depressing the reduced alarm switch and depressing the remote control unlocking button within 5 seconds deactivates the function. The function is deactivated for 24 hours.
