General Information
The alarm is an entry protection system for the vehicle. The aim is to prevent anyone getting into the vehicle or manipulating the vehicle in any way without being detected.
The alarm is available in various configurations:
- Basic configuration.
This configuration includes switches in the lock units (including switches in the hood and trunk lid/tailgate), an alarm LED and a siren (SCM).
- Mass movement sensor module (MMS) or ultrasonic sensor module (IMS) (IMS replaces MMS for XC90 MY 2012-)
- Inclination Sensor Module (ISM) (BBS-IS replaces ISM from and incl. structure week 201128)
- Extended configuration.
Can include one or more of the following components:

- Inclination Sensor Module (ISM) (BBS-IS replaces ISM from and incl. structure week 201128)
Definitions:
- Deactivated: the alarm is not activated and is not protecting the vehicle
- Activated: the alarm is protecting the vehicle and will be triggered if there is an input signal from one of the sensors
- Deployed: An alarm cycle is initiated. The siren sounds for 25 seconds and the direction indicators flash for approx. 5 minutes. When the alarm cycle is finished, the alarm goes to activated mode.
