Camshaft Sensor
Magnet-resistive sensor (hall sensor). The sensor is supplied with 5V voltage and is grounded through the control module.
Characteristic
When the camshaft rotates, a pulsed voltage signal is generated. The signal is 5V when tooth on the camshaft passes the sensor and 0V for gap.
TERMINAL
| Connector terminal | Control module terminal | Signal type | Other |
|---|---|---|---|
| #1 | #A72 | Power supply | The camshaft sensors have common voltage feed. The sensors are supplied with 5 V |
| #2 | #A7 | Ground | The camshaft sensors have common ground connection The sensors are grounded through the control module. |
| #3 | #A31 (camshaft sensor 4) #A32 (camshaft sensor 3) #A33 (camshaft sensor 2) #A34 (camshaft sensor 1) |
Signal | Signal output. Sensor against tooth = 5V Sensor against gap = 0V |
Check
Prerequisites (unless otherwise specified):
- Breakout box connected.
- Sensor connected.
- Engine running.
Camshaft sensor:
Measure voltage between #A7 and respective signal output on the camshaft sensor.
The value should be:
≈ 0V gap against sensor.
≈ 5V tooth against sensor
NOTE:
The signal's asymmetrical wave shape depends on the camshaft's teeth.
