System Overview: Signals

The tables below summarize the input and output signals to the units in the system for the alarm. The signal types are divided into directly connected signals, serial communication and controller area network (CAN) communication.

CENTRAL ELECTRONIC MODULE (CEM) (4/56)

Input signals Output signals
Directly connected:  Directly connected: 
  • Driver's door contact breaker to indicate when the door is open (6/36).
  • Passenger door contact breaker to indicate when the door is open (6/55).
  • Right-hand rear door contact breaker in lock unit to indicate when the door is open (6/56).
  • Left-hand rear door contact breaker in lock unit to indicate when the door is open (6/57).
  • Contact breaker in lock unit, trunk lid, for indicating open trunk lid (6/8) (S80).
  • Trunk lid contact breaker in lock unit to indicate when the trunk lid is open (3/78) (V70/XC70).
  • Hood contact breaker to indicate when the hood is open (3/62).
  • Alarm indicator for showing the status of the alarm or lock in the S60/V60 (7/12).
  • Power supply to the siren (16/35).
  • Horn, used as replacement if Central electronic module (CEM) is unable to activate Siren control module (SCM) (structure week 200946-)
Via serial communication (LIN):  Via serial communication (LIN): 
  • Siren (16/35) for information regarding siren status.
  • Remote receiver module (RRX) (4/119) with unlock commands (does not apply to vehicles with the keyless entry system).
  • Heartbeat sensor (7/214), for the result of checks (applies only to vehicles with the keyless system structure week -201020).
  • Movement sensor (IMS) (7/199).
  • Mass Movement Sensor Module (MMS) (7/122) (only applies to XC60 with panorama roof).
  • Siren (16/35) for alarm function trigger commands.
  • Heartbeat sensor (7/214), for activating checks (applies only to vehicles with the keyless system structure week -201020).
  • Movement sensor (IMS) (7/199).
  • Mass Movement Sensor Module (MMS) (7/122) (only applies to XC60 with panorama roof).
Via CAN communication (MS-CAN):  Via CAN communication (MS-CAN): 
  • Keyless vehicle module (KVM) (4/93) with information about the key check (only vehicles with the keyless entry system)
  • Phone Module (PHM) (16/60) when using Volvo On Call services.
  • Climate Control Module (CCM) (4/6), for activating the reduction alarm function.
  • The driver information module (DIM) (5/1) receives information about which message is to be displayed
  • Phone Module (PHM) (16/60) when using Volvo On Call services.
SIREN (16/35)

Via serial communication (LIN):  Via serial communication (LIN): 
  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56), command for alarm functions.
  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56), for information on the sirens status including the level sensor's status, if one is installed.
MOVEMENT SENSOR (IMS) (7/199)

  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56), for activation.
  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56), for information on sensor status and signaling that the alarm has triggered.
HEARTBEAT SENSOR (7/214) (STRUCTURE WEEK -201020)

  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56), for activation (applies only to vehicles with the keyless locking system).
  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56), for the result of checks (applies only to vehicle's with the keyless locking system).
KEYLESS VEHICLE MODULE (KVM) (4/93) (ONLY VEHICLES WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM)

Via serial communication:  Via serial communication: 
  • Remote keyless entry (RKE) receiver (4/119), using signals from the remote key.
  • Remote keyless entry (RKE) receiver (4/119) for configuration.
Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication:  Via Controller Area Network (CAN) communication: 
  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56) with the request for a key check.
  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56) with the result of a key check.
CLIMATE CONTROL MODULE (CCM) (4/6) (APPLIES TO STRUCTURE WEEK -200746)

  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56) with information about reduced alarm.
  • Central electronic module (CEM) (4/56), contact breaker for activating reduced alarm.
INFOTAINMENT CONTROL MODULE (ICM) (APPLIES TO STRUCTURE WEEK 200720-)
