Standard Locking Function
The market in Japan has Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) for model year 2008-2009 regardless of whether the vehicle is equipped with keyless entry system or not. When the vehicle is not equipped with keyless entry system, the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) communicates directly with Central electronic module (CEM).
The lock function that is active when the car is delivered depends on the market. The system can be configured for total unlocking or 2 step unlocking.
Total unlocking means that all side doors unlock and that the tailgate can be opened by activating the switch on the tailgate.
During 2 stage unlocking, only the driver's door is unlocked first. If the remote key is pressed again within 10 seconds, the other doors are unlocked.
The vehicle is normally unlocked by pressing the remote key's unlock button. This also deactivates the alarm if installed. The vehicle can also be unlocked using the key blade in the remote key. Unlocking using the key blade should be seen as a last resort. If the car is unlocked with the key blade, the alarm will be triggered. The alarm can then be reset by inserting the remote key in the starter module.
